The Boar Job

Summary#

The party was contracted to clear a boar problem threatening local farmland. Session 4 (recorded) covered recon and setup: the party scouted the farmland, estimated at least 15 boars in the area, recruited the local farmers, and spent the day building pit traps. The hunt itself took place in Session 5.

Working with the local farmers, the party dug 5 pit traps lined with wooden spikes and set bait on the far side. After nightfall the boars emerged. Most failed their DC 15 Dex saves and fell into the pits; two cleared them undamaged.

The fight was decisive. Fenrir opened with Thunder Wave (12 total damage), Melech dropped Eldritch Blasts, and Bjorn waded in with Bless running and a Shillelagh-enhanced weapon. The farmers joined in — one landing a natural 20 on a downed boar. Two farmers were gored unconscious (6 damage each); Bjorn stabilized both with Spare the Dying and cast Sanctuary on himself for the remainder. All boars were killed with no party casualties.

The party rested overnight at the farm. In the morning the farmers served a breakfast of eggs and boar meat before the party headed back to Saltmarsh to collect their reward.
